Notes
"Catherine Roeser [...] has a son born, apparently, out of wedlock. He was named Will Roeser and was raised by his maternal grandparents - Magdalena and Peter." (JDWade 1987)

[John Wiedmann] planned to join an older brother in the St. Louis area, but somehow found hmself in Tipton, Iowa, working for a shoemaker. It was there he met and married Catherine Roeser.

"He later came to Panora (Iowa) and established his own business and made shoes. A little over 100 years ago it was reported in the Panora papers that he had started handling ready made shoes. He was mayor of Panora at one time and referred to as squire. He used to take some of his boys to the woodshed for spankings and part of the building still stands. The house where he lived with his daughter Dr. Amelia Tigner still stands. She had her office in the home there." (Gertrude Lyons, 1985, from notes by JDW)
